B9K9 (pronounced ‘benign canine‘ -- good dog!) was established in 1999. The sole proprietor, Keryl Olson, has been training dogs for 10 years using positive methods and methods that allow the dog to do the problem solving, “therefore the training sticks in the dog’s hard-wiring, so to speak“. She goes on to explain “if I’m the passenger in a car, I will be less likely to remember how we got to our destination than if I were doing the driving”. 

Ms. Olson is a member of APDT (Association of Pet Dog Trainers) and is a Certified CGC (Canine Good Citizen) evaluator. She has a BA in Special Education with a minor in Psychology, giving her a solid background in learning styles and behavior. “My primary goal is to identify each person’s learning style and determine the owner’s level of comfort in the training process, so both the owner and the dog will benefit to full capacity.” 

B9K9 was founded on the basis that providing a positive and fun atmosphere for learning is the key to successful training. Keryl believes that a better mannered dog is just the icing on the cake -- the cake is an emotionally healthy dog who has a trusting, loving bond with his/her person.
